Alledged Ski Trip
Over half-term last week I was lucky enough to get a place on the ski trip that my school runs to Sangalonga (in the Italian Alps) every year. So things looked pretty good, I would have to suffer two ridiculously long coach journeys but I would have five and a half days of skiing and, now that I can legally, drinking.
Now, I’m not the best at skiing but I’m good enough to do more than just climbing up and down a hill. So on the first morning I set out with my group and we went for a quick run down a blue slope to get everyone started. We went up the lift and stopped at a place near the top a small part of the run. Then as we skied down, I started to feel something every time I put pressure on my left leg. By the time I managed to get to the bottom it hadn’t gotten any better.
So what had pretty much happened was that I strained my Achilles tendon, which is pretty difficult to do skiing. However I had a slight advantage in that I tore it in a rugby match a couple of years ago so it probably wasn’t in the best condition ever. So here I am more than a week later and back in England still unable to properly walk. And it’s getting quite annoying really. And by getting I mean that it already is.
Still, the view was quite good.

Get A Grip - Skadaddyz
Unfortunately I have been unable to find lyrics for this song so you’ll just have to guess.
No commentsEnvironmental Concerns Page
I have just started an environmental concerns page on my site and would like anybody with any news or anything to contribute. It doesn’t have to be original and links to bigger sites who share the same views would be brilliant.
At the moment I only have a page on whales which currently supports a measly one satirical article written by me. Anything more that you can find to do with anything will be put up as soon as I can get it.

No commentsJapanese Whaling
Currently there is a Japanese whaling fleet in the Antarctic. It is estimated that by the end of their time there they will have killed over 1000 whales. These will primarily be Minke whales but will also include about 50 Humpback whales. Every year a fleet travels to the Antarctic with the express intent of killing whales, apparently this is for scientific research.
Their claim that this is for scientific research is well articulated and nicely presented but also happens to be the biggest load of crap that I have heard in a long time. No matter what the scientific research is about they would never condone the killing of a mother and a calf.

One reason for the ‘research’ was for gathering information on the population. This leaves me wondering what the hell kind of research they want to find. How many whales you have to kill before there aren’t any left? Seriously if you want to research the population of Siberian tigers you do not say to yourself “I need to go out and kill 100 of them every year.” That would be incredibly stupid and yet for some reason people are willing to accept this excuse when it comes down to whaling?!
The Australian government however do have the sense to stand up and say “What the fuck do you think you are doing?” They have released the picture above which practically shows that no scientific research is being carried out with this. Of course the ICR (Japanese Institute for Cetacean Research) has retorted with some laughably ridiculous comments.
Defending the photo they have claimed that the whales though both female, were not mother and calf. Clearly the smaller whale is a calf and that raises the question of why the calf was killed and why the calf was swimming with a whale that wasn’t her mother? Unless they want us to believe that the killed the bigger whale and just dragged her behind the boat for a while before happening to forget about it and then find a calf just floating dead in the water. They catch it and then surprise! Silly old them has been dragging a whale for 5 miles.
The director has also said that the Australian media has “created a dangerous emotional propaganda that could cause serious damage to the relationship between our two countries,” which basically amounts to saying “If you do that again I’ll cry” and having a little fit because someone has bothered to say that’s wrong.
This isn’t the first time that Japan (the pro-whaling idiots of Japan) have been dishonest. With an ban on international whaling set by a council made up of countries who are interested in what’s going on there was next to no chance of whaling even reaching the outer regions of acceptable behaviour. Faced with this Japan made deals with several land-locked countries on the basis that they join the council and vote for whaling and Japan will hand over lots of money. Amazingly this has worked and now the ban on whaling is preposterously close to being overturned.
I don’t normally do things like this but whoever you are sign this petition to get our (British) government to stop. Also look at any other similar petitions and sign them if you can. This petition is woefully undersigned so try and get as many people as possible to sign up. If your not British then badger your own government to take a stand. The only way to stop this is to say something.
